AFTER nine years on the Surf Coast, boutique clothing retailer UgliSista is shutting its doors.<\/p>\n

Owner Jacinta Matlock confirmed via social media last week it was with mixed emotions that the business’s 24-year journey would be coming to an end.<\/p>\n

Ms Matlock is planning to retire, and spend more time travelling and with family.<\/p>\n

She said she was incredibly proud of what had been built at UgliSista, but acknowledged COVID and the cost-of-living crisis had creating new challenges for the business.<\/p>\n

“I’ve given my heart and soul to UgliSista and we can’t do it anymore.<\/p>\n

Ms Matlock will be stepping away from UgliSista after 24 years of business.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“The last five years have been ordinary and hard since the pandemic, but it was a really hard decision.<\/p>\n

“We used to have two shops next to each other in Torquay, had eight staff and it was a thriving business. Then COVID and cost of living really came in\u2026 I’ve slowly winded down to get out of it.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to be heading away to Noosa, and we’ve got a villa in Bali that we are just about to finish renovating\u2026 it’s very exciting and it’s all positive now.<\/p>\n

UgliSista’s Pakington Street site also closed last year.<\/p>\n

In recent years, Ms Matlock has shifted some of her business online, however, will not be continuing with this avenue in the future.<\/p>\n

UgliSista has been on Pearl Street in Torquay for the past nine years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

She extended her thanks to Uglisista’s customers, suppliers and staff.<\/p>\n

“I’ve had great customers over the years, both locals and travellers.<\/p>\n

“Everyone is spewing we are closing down.”<\/p>\n
