ARMSTRONG Creek’s newest community hub is quickly taking shape, with fabrication nearly complete on the three-room kindergarten, community spaces and allied health suites.<\/p>\n
The new Bloinks Community Hub \u2013 the hub’s interim name \u2013 is an innovative, modular design being built at Modularity’s Moolap factory.<\/p>\n
The design consists of several modules which are constructed individually. The modules will be assembled and connected to utilities at its Warralily Boulevard home this month.<\/p>\n
A state government grant will allow for the facility to open from next year, three years ahead of the originally planned opening in 2029.<\/p>\n
Once complete, the new kinder will offer up to 178 kindergarten places, with the City of Greater Geelong funding an additional community room and amenities.<\/p>\n
Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn said the hub would support the growing Armstrong Creek community.<\/p>\n
“Victoria’s population is growing and we’re making sure our early learning infrastructure grows with it \u2013 giving children the best start in life and supporting families with more kinder places close to home.”<\/p>\n
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney welcomed the latest development in the hub’s construction.<\/p>\n
“It’s wonderful to see the Bloinks Community Hub and kindergarten taking shape, and even better that it’s arriving three years earlier than planned.<\/p>\n
“This is a real win for the Armstrong Creek community, and I can’t wait to see the centre open its doors in January to welcome local families.”<\/p>\n
Modularity general manager James Heffernan said the company was proud to be involved in the delivery of the hub.<\/p>\n
“We produce in more than 450 modules per year and deliver across the state to various schools, kindergartens and social housing and commercial clients.<\/p>\n
“Modularity employs over 100 full-time employees from the local community. We are a proud employer of Geelong people and provide opportunities for apprenticeships, traineeships and trades across a wide range of skills.”<\/p>\n
Expressions of interest for children to attend the new kindergarten are now open via the City of Greater Geelong website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
