{"id":171002,"date":"2025-09-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=171002"},"modified":"2025-12-02T14:18:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T03:18:56","slug":"sky-to-fill-with-kites-as-festival-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/sky-to-fill-with-kites-as-festival-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"Sky to fill with kites as festival returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KITES will fly high over Torquay&#8217;s Esplanade when the Surf Coast Kite Festival returns on October 26.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the Jan Juc Pre School Parent Advisory Group, the annual event raises funds for the local kindergarten.<\/p>\n<p>Event volunteer Jess Powell said the money from the event will help fund special programs and activities for the children throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The money goes towards special programs like getting OT, speech therapists, fun programs for the<\/p>\n<p>kids like the circus [and] wildlife exposure.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_171008\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-171008\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-171008\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/IMG_5542CreditAllySc_86432-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"861\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-171008\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The upcoming event will feature plenty of activities and entertainment for the kids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The main reason for the festival is for the fundraising for the kinder, but it&#8217;s about community involvement and getting the community together to have fun.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As part of this year&#8217;s festival, attendees can expect to see kites of all shapes and sizes fill the sky, along with live entertainment, food trucks and kids activities.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will follow a similar program to last year&#8217;s record-breaking event, but will include new live performances, activations and\u00a0food vans.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_171009\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-171009\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-171009\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/IMG_5388CreditAllySc_86443-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"864\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-171009\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This year\u2019s event follows on from last year\u2019s record-breaking festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For many, the highlight of the event will be seeing the kites soar, with the Wildlife Exposure also a favourite among the children.<\/p>\n<p>Event organisers are encouraging everyone to head down to the event next month, and purchase raffle tickets in support of the pre-school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We put a lot of effort into the planning of it so that there&#8217;s free activities for everyone to enjoy,&#8221; Ms Powell said.<\/p>\n<p>She thanked the event&#8217;s sponsors for their support, acknowledging it wouldn&#8217;t be possible without them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>\/\/SPONSORED CONTENT<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KITES will fly high over Torquay&#8217;s Esplanade when the Surf Coast Kite Festival returns on October 26.
