{"id":171728,"date":"2025-10-06T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=171728"},"modified":"2025-10-06T14:26:38","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T03:26:38","slug":"strapper-eyes-national-glory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/strapper-eyes-national-glory\/","title":{"rendered":"Strapper eyes national glory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY surf retailer Strapper Surf continues to assert itself as an industry heavyweight after again being named national finalists in the Australian Surf Industry Association Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The team has been nominated for Australian Independent Retailer of the Year: Core Board Store and Australian Multi Store Retailer of the Year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/local-surf-brands-secure-the-gold-at-sbia-awards\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">Strapper is a former winner of both major award categories.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Torquay store manager Dylan Schulze is also up for Store Manager of the Year once again, <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/local-surf-store-manager-takes-home-national-honour\/\">after taking out the national gong last year.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3200_64891.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Torquay store manager Dylan Schulze is reigning Store Manager of the Year and is chasing his second consecutive title.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Schulze has been central to the local surf brand for more than 20 years and has managed Torquay&#8217;s main board store since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was an honour to be held in such high regard by his peers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was just incredible to win the award last year; it was such a thrill.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Being nominated once again is super nice, particularly for coming to work and doing what I&#8217;m doing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully as a business we can do well and take home the gold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3160_64856.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dylan Schulze, Jack Milner, Hayley Forbes, Jaimi Meyer and Cooper Downes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Strapper Surf owner Michael DiSciascio said the nominations were great reward for the efforts of the business&#8217; passionate and energetic team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are super stoked about it, probably more so with just being finalists almost every year it&#8217;s been running. It&#8217;s always good to win something, but when you&#8217;re top two, three or four each year, it&#8217;s pretty cool.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to be good all the time and we feel we are achieving that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s credit to the staff who are really passionate about what we do and the whole surf scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are living and breathing it \u2014 they are a keen bunch who are helping us stay grassroots.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The winners will be announced on October 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY surf retailer Strapper Surf continues to assert itself as an industry heavyweight after again being named national finalists in the Australian Surf Industry Association Awards.
