{"id":172160,"date":"2025-10-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-11T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=172160"},"modified":"2025-10-08T20:16:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T09:16:37","slug":"pasture-field-day-draws-strong-crowd-raises-funds-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/pasture-field-day-draws-strong-crowd-raises-funds-for-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Pasture field day draws strong crowd, raises funds for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL farmers were back in Mount Duneed last week for another successful Pasture Open Day at Tactical AGA.The event raised more than $1,000 for local charity, Foundation 61.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by senior agronomist Wayne Firth at Tactical AGA&#8217;s Dickens Road warehouse and paddock demonstration site, the event provided essential information about improving pastures and productivity on farm.<\/p>\n<p>It also featured 50 different pasture systems, a perennial pasture persistence demonstration, and, new for 2025, over-sowing demonstrations.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_172166\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-172166\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-172166\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3614_57821-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3614_57821-1-rotated.jpg 900w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3614_57821-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/IMG_3614_57821-1-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-172166\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The McDowall family from South Coast Lime Curdievale stopped by to view the different pasture options available.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was a fantastic attendance from farmers and land managers, including a large group of Marcus Oldham students keen to gain local knowledge on pasture performance in the region,&#8221; Firth said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also revealed a preview of a new perennial grass variety, Align.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also thank everyone who provided goods for the raffle and bought tickets to raise money for local charity, Foundation 61.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/Spraytec1_22395.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"652\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Spraytec agronomist Simon Angelino, who specialises in application technology and foliar fertilisers, with Wayne and Lexi Firth and farmer David Noble.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over the past five years, Tactical AGA agronomists have developed pasture blends specifically for the Surf Coast and surrounds at its Mount Duneed site.<\/p>\n<p>An expansion to the site in 2023 enabled the organisation to throw its doors open for field days, providing farmers the opportunity to inspect a range of pasture varieties in one location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The trial site is of a significant scale and that offers farmers a first-hand look of how our pasture products perform in this environment,&#8221; Firth said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/10\/20250925_104951_10181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The team from Migomag \u2014 Craig Travers and Jamie Cooper \u2014 were on hand to introduce famers to a range of welding gear and accessories.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tactical AGA hosts pasture field days and local events to provide expert guidance and pasture improvement solutions to local famers to help them achieve their goals.<\/p>\n<p>Local farmers say Tactical AGA is a fantastic source for seed and fert, advice and access to a wide range of trial plots, showcasing how products perform under local conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL farmers were back in Mount Duneed last week for another successful Pasture Open Day at Tactical AGA.The event raised more than $1,000 for local charity, Foundation 61.
