THE Aireys Inlet and District Association (AIDA) is inviting residents, visitors and holidaymakers to share their views on what makes the area special and what can be done it keep it that way.<\/p>\n

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, and the feedback will guide AIDA’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the unique character of Aireys Inlet and its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Since 1983, AIDA has conducted community opinion surveys to determine what the community values about the area’s built and natural environment, economy, facilities and overall lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Previous surveys were conducted in 1983, 1990, 1999, 2015 and 2020, allowing AIDA to track shifts in opinions over more than four decades.<\/p>\n

AIDA vice-president Charlotte Allen said the data collected is used to inform the association’s lobbying and advocacy efforts with the council.<\/p>\n

The last survey, conducted in 2020, received 400 responses and highlighted the community’s desire to see the township maintain its “non-urbanised character”.<\/p>\n

“It certainly gives us confidence that we’ve got strong support,” Ms Allen said.<\/p>\n

“In the last survey, about half of the people who responded weren’t AIDA members, and yet their views coincided very closely with ours.”<\/p>\n

This year’s survey continues this tradition, welcoming input from anyone who lives in, works in, or visits the district.<\/p>\n

“Whether you’re a ratepayer, resident or visitor, we really want to hear from the whole cross-section, and also a cross-section of age groups,” Ms Allen said.<\/p>\n
