GLAMPING has arrived in Apollo Bay, adding a fresh drawcard for visitors travelling the Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n

The 20 “eco-safari tents” will be housed at the northern end of the Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve, a short walk from the beach, and offer a new way to experience one of Victoria’s most visited coastal destinations.<\/p>\n

Guests will be able to choose from a variety of options, including tents with private ensuites and accessible designs with DDA-compliant bathrooms, and enjoy views across the Barham River.<\/p>\n

Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos said the glamping experience would broaden the appeal of the campgrounds.<\/p>\n

“The Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve has always been a favourite for campers, but these new Eco-Safari Tents bring a whole new level of comfort and style to the experience,” he said.<\/p>\n

“These improvements will make the campgrounds more inclusive, attracting new visitors, enticing them to stay longer and spend their money in Apollo Bay.”<\/p>\n

The Victorian government has invested $5.15 million into the new experience, as part of a broader upgrade to the reserve’s accommodation precinct.<\/p>\n

This work, which includes improved access, upgrades to the park’s amenities and re-grassed green spaces, is expected to increase visitation and help drive year-round tourism to the region.<\/p>\n

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said the project would also provide an economic boost.<\/p>\n

“This is a great new addition to camping option along the Great Ocean Road and will bring in new visitors that will help boost the local economy.” she said.<\/p>\n

Bookings will open on October 9 through the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority.<\/p>\n

The reserve also has a range of bookable tent campsites and powered sites for campers and caravans, while free camping remains available nearby at Stevensons Falls and Dando’s Campground in the Otways.<\/p>\n
