A 51-year-old Bell Park man has been charged with false imprisonment, unlawful assault and contravening a court order, following an incident in Bell Park on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
Residents in Geelong\u2019s northern suburbs were urged to stay indoors as police negotiated with the man, who had barricaded himself inside a Bell Park home.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to the property in McClelland Street at about 4.30pm to conduct a welfare check.<\/p>\n
Police cordoned off McClelland Street, Yaraan Street and Thorburn Street as a precaution and encouraged people to avoid the area.<\/p>\n
The seven-hour standoff came to an end at 11.30pm and the 51-year-old man was remanded overnight.<\/p>\n
