NORTH Geelong have held off St Joseph\u2019s to remain undefeated after day two of Round 4 of GCA1 Firsts on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Magpies<\/a> resumed their innings with the bat for just under three overs, finishing on a solid 6\/242 after Adam Costello made an unbeaten 76.<\/p>\n

Despite facing all 85 overs, Joeys were unable to chase down the target score and ending their innings at 7\/184. Brandon Purcell made 48 not out, while youngster Ollie King backed up his three wickets with an unbeaten 31.<\/p>\n

St Peter\u2019s won their second straight match after chasing down Newtown & Chilwell\u2019s<\/a> 253 in a strong performance with the bat. Skipper Luke Ford made 117 and was the catalyst in the victory.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the spiralling Two Blues now drop to 0-3 and face an uphill battle to jump back into finals contention.<\/p>\n

Grovedale have won their first game of the season in a dominant effort over Lara.<\/p>\n

After knocking the Cats over for 142 in day one, the Tigers finished day two on an impressive 7\/295 thanks to an unbeaten 112 from Josh Windus. Riley Stone\u2019s six wickets in the first innings proved crucial in his side\u2019s victory.<\/p>\n

A four-wicket haul from Jack Jenkins and three from Lachlan Molyneux has seen East Belmont hand South Barwon their first loss of the season.<\/p>\n

The Lions were sent in to bat and finished on 8\/283, before knocking the Swans all out for just 160 to top off an impressive match in both innings.<\/p>\n

Round 5 will start this weekend, with North Geelong and St Peter\u2019s to clash in what shapes to be an exciting matchup.<\/p>\n

Newtown & Chilwell will hunt for their first win against Grovedale, while St Joseph\u2019s<\/a> will hope to recapture their Round 2 form as they face South Barwon.<\/p>\n

East Belmont can make it three wins in a row should they beat a struggling Lara outfit.<\/p>\n

In GCA2, Bell Park will look to remain undefeated when they face Torquay, while Geelong City will take on Leopold hoping to hand them their first loss of the season.<\/p>\n
