MORE than 60 members of the Surf Coast community have paused to reflect on those who served in Australia’s armed forces on Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n

The Torquay RSL hosted a commemorative service this past Tuesday (November 11) at Point Danger to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event featured the playing of The Last Post and Reveille, the raising of Australian and United Kingdom flags and the laying of poppies and wreaths.<\/p>\n

A welcome and odd to the fallen was read by Torquay RSL president Paul Barker, while prayers for the fallen were given by chaplain Peter Ellis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Students from St Therese Primary School and Torquay College played a key part by laying their own wreaths and producing significant readings.<\/p>\n

A memorial was also held during the service to remember those from the Torquay RSL ranks who have passed in the last year.<\/p>\n

More than ten wreaths were laid during the service.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mr Ellis said it was important to remember the brave and the true who have died the death of honour.<\/p>\n

“Especially we remember this day those in who memory this service is held and grant to those whom they have left behind the grace and comfort of your healing Spirit until death is swallowed up in victory.<\/p>\n

“Strengthen and encourage those who have been saddened by the loss of loved ones, especially children deprived on a parent’s care and protection.”<\/p>\n

Remembrance Day services were also held in Anglesea and Lorne.<\/p>\n
