TWO gardens on the Surf Coast will welcome visitors next weekend as part of Open Gardens Victoria’s spring events.<\/p>\n

The two private gardens offer a contrasting experience with one inspired by a Japanese design and the other full of playfulness.<\/p>\n

In Gherang Gardenalia, owners Karen and Geoff Voss have spent the past 25 years cultivating their space.<\/p>\n

The four-acre garden is shaped by imagination and resilience, and has been a favourite for visitors since its opening in 2016.<\/p>\n

“Our garden has evolved with us over 25 years,” Karen said.<\/p>\n

“Shaped by the environment, soil and climate. Some areas remain a little wild and untamed, offering habitat for birds and small reptiles, while others are serene spaces for relaxation and reflection.”<\/p>\n

Gravel paths curve around the property, taking guests through the various garden rooms, shady retreats and upcycled sculptures.<\/p>\n

With plenty to look at, some of the garden highlights include a living wall of Banksia marginata, a citrus grove, two vegetable gardens and a glasshouse.<\/p>\n

A short drive away in Moriac and the Greenfield garden features a peaceful and thoughtfully designed garden.<\/p>\n

Owned by Denise and Russ Murfitt, Greenfield has come together over the past 20 years, transforming what was once a bare paddock into a sanctuary of calm.<\/p>\n

The garden was inspired by the Japanese concept of Yutori and includes meandering paths leading to maples and cherries and corners packed with hydrangeas and ferns.<\/p>\n

The garden is complete with a Japanese courtyard, shade house and productive orchard.<\/p>\n

“I designed Greenfield to be strolled slowly,” Denise said.<\/p>\n

“To notice the shifting light, the sound of water and the small details that remind us to pause and appreciate life.”<\/p>\n

Both gardens will be open on November 29 and November 30 from 10am until 4.30pm.<\/p>\n
