He then had two years away before coming back on as president for a two-year term.<\/p>\n
Mr Oliver handed over the reins to the club’s first female president Kathy Naoumidis last year.<\/p>\n
The Torquay resident said he was over the moon to secure such a prestigious honour.<\/p>\n
“I’m pretty chuffed, there’s only 25 in the history of the club; they are few and far between so it’s a real honour.<\/p>\n
“It’s just been fantastic to be part of it. Coming out of the pandemic, everyone wasn’t sure what the future held and the club was in the same sort of stalemate.<\/p>\n
“As president I wanted to come in and help reinvigorate the place and get it going. Alongside a great committee, I really believe we achieved that. Now we are in great hands with our first female president in Kathy.”<\/p>\n
Mr Oliver remains involved with the club in a committee capacity and hopes to stay on board for many years to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
