LOCALS are being invited to attend this year’s Say No to Domestic and Family Violence Walk on Tuesday, November 25.<\/p>\n

Held by the Torquay Rotary in conjunction with Zonta as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, participants will make their way from the Torquay Life Saving Club to the carpark at the end of Zeally Bay Road.<\/p>\n

Torquay Rotary community services director Linda Neale said one of the main focuses of the event is to increase awareness in Torquay.<\/p>\n

“Nobody should have to go through domestic and family violence, whether it’s coercive control, whether it’s financial abuse or whether it’s physical abuse, sexual abuse, nobody should have to go through that.”<\/p>\n

As part of raising awareness, the club will also be displaying posters and signage, advocating for people to say no to domestic violence and instead say yes to respect.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the walk, participants will hear from Zonta, Orange Door, the Torquay Community House and Rotary.<\/p>\n

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is a global initiative encouraging an end to domestic and family violence.<\/p>\n

The campaign will run from November 25 until December 10.<\/p>\n
