THE artists of Ashmore Arts will open their studios to the public tomorrow (Saturday, December 6) for a Christmas Open Day aimed at celebrating local makers, their creative work and the community that supports them.<\/p>\n
The event will take place between 10am and 4pm, and offer visitors the opportunity to explore the precinct, meet the resident artists, purchase handmade work and participate in workshops and demonstrations.<\/p>\n
Artist Erin Reinboth said the day reflects a shared desire to bring people together and create space for genuine connection.<\/p>\n
Inspired by the Surf Coast Arts Trail, the open day will invite people into the studios usually closed to the public, with a focus on handmade gifts.<\/p>\n
The event has been designed with families in mind and includes face painting, creative activities and children’s art tables.<\/p>\n
The Ashmore Arts precinct, Reinboth said, lends itself to relaxed exploration.<\/p>\n
“Rain, hail, shine \u2013 it’s a pretty spectacular place to come and visit,” she said.<\/p>\n
“You can bring the kids out, they can roam across all the fields, go down to the creek \u2026 run around, get muddy and play.”<\/p>\n
Local musicians will perform throughout the day and the Jan Juc Boardriders Club will host a sausage sizzle fundraiser.<\/p>\n
“One of our photographers is even doing silly Christmas jumper photoshoots. If you can’t get to Westfield with Santa, that’s the next best thing,” Reinboth said.<\/p>\n
She encouraged the community to support small businesses and local makers this festive season.<\/p>\n
“Get behind handmade, beautiful Christmas products, rather than going in that mass-produced direction,” Reinboth said.<\/p>\n
“Shop local where you can, especially in your own backyard.”<\/p>\n
