Extra pickups are being added to help households manage waste during the festive season.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast Shire Council has announced temporary changes to kerbside collection days, along with additional services running from Boxing Day through early January.<\/p>\n<h3>Holiday bin changes and summer collections across Surf Coast<\/h3>\n<p>From Thursday 25 December to Saturday 27 December only, the collection schedule will change:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thursday bins will be collected on Friday.<\/li>\n<li>Friday bins will be collected on Saturday.<\/li>\n<li>Regular schedules will resume on Monday 29 December 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Extra waste and recycling pickups will operate shire-wide throughout the holiday period. To confirm local collection dates, residents can use the SCRRApp or visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au\/Environment\/Waste-and-recycling\/Household-waste-and-recycling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Surf Coast Shire waste and recycling page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cr Paul Barker said the seasonal service boost is designed to ease the load on local households.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people accumulate extra rubbish across the Christmas and New Year period,\u201d Cr Barker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese extra collections will help households manage this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hot weather could affect bin pickups. Council warned that extreme or catastrophic fire danger days may lead to changes in kerbside services or transfer station hours. Any updates will be shared via SCRRApp and Council\u2019s social media channels.<\/p>\n<p>To help keep collections running smoothly, Council encourages residents and visitors to follow these simple guidelines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leave at least 50 centimetres between bins.<\/li>\n<li>Place bins one metre away from fences or walls.<\/li>\n<li>Do not overfill bins. If they can\u2019t be moved, they won\u2019t be emptied.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3>Transfer stations open longer through January<\/h3>\n<p>Transfer station hours will also extend across the peak holiday period:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anglesea Transfer Station will open to commercial waste contractors on Saturdays from 20 December to 24 January.<\/li>\n<li>Public access will continue seven days a week, except Christmas Day.<\/li>\n<li>Lorne Transfer Station will close at 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 26 December to 26 January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Earlier this year, the Council introduced major changes to waste services. These included updated bin schedules and new collection routines across the shire.
