{"id":176315,"date":"2025-12-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=176315"},"modified":"2025-12-11T13:42:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T02:42:29","slug":"meredith-33-goes-down-as-a-classic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/meredith-33-goes-down-as-a-classic\/","title":{"rendered":"Meredith 33 goes down as a classic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 10,000 people enjoyed days of fun at the 33rd Meredith Music Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Aunty Meredith and her crew put on another top performance at the annual event, with dancefloors full and the good times flowing with ease.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/54967075092_b36af9ea_31623.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 10,000 people flocked to the Meredith Supernatural Ampitheatre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Hundreds of couches lined the Ampitheatre to watch some of the world&#8217;s grooviest acts hit the stage with their own unique warmth and high energy.<\/p>\n<p>The festival opened with a special smoking ceremony to welcome people to Country and was followed by the antics of Dr Sure&#8217;s Unusual Practise, North East Arnhem Land band Drifting Clouds and Folk Bitch Trio.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/54966610279_61be7ffb_30218.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A special Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country launched the festival.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under flashing and flickering lights, American indie musician Perfume Genius dazzled with pride, before Melbourne psychedelic jazz fusionists Midlife had the crowd in the palm of their hand.<\/p>\n<p>Energy carried through into the night with Sam Austins and Ninajirachi lighting up the night sky.<\/p>\n<p>The Silence Wedge was in place for a dozen hours, before some crowd favourite hits from the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band got everyone past their sore heads.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/54968272355_c8af236f_31632.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TV on the Radio rocked their socks off.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Prize and Radio Free Alice turned up the temperature but couldn&#8217;t stop a Meredith special rain downpour, and then The Peep Tempel vibrated the Ampitheatre with top hit Carol.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most sought after performances of the year did not disappoint, with Syrian singer Omar Souleyman experimenting with his high-octane contemporary synth rhythm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/54968225629_a1f13cf1_31646.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Australia&#8217;s Chet Faker brought out some of his top hits for his performance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A bit of housekeeping and it was time for Australia&#8217;s own Chet Faker to hit the stage.<\/p>\n<p>Talk is Cheap, Drop the Game, No Diggity and 1998 rung true to the ears of all and moved audiences to a sway.<\/p>\n<p>Brookyln rockers TV on the Radio rocked their socks off, before Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko! floated Meredith into a new dimension.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/54968225889_45965589_31652.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Omar Souleyman was in fine form.
