TORQUAY’S Maple Bakery has entered a new era of delicious treats and specialty coffee under the leadership of new owner Nick Edgar.<\/p>\n
Edgar, a former owner of two successful caf\u00e9s, has relocated to the Surf Coast to lead the next phase of Maple Bakery, bringing with him a clear vision centred on quality, consistency and customer experience.<\/p>\n
Central to that vision is a revamped coffee offering, featuring specialty beans roasted by Five Senses Coffee.<\/p>\n
“The dream of what Maple will be is about revamping the whole coffee setup, getting really into that specialty coffee tier,” Edgar said.<\/p>\n
Maple Bakery’s menu will continue to evolve, offering a rotating selection of pastries, pies and sandwiches designed to keep regulars coming back. Popular favourites, however, will remain, including Beaver Tail doughnuts, Oreo scrolls, freshly baked muffins, almond croissants and cronuts.<\/p>\n
Edgar said building a strong team culture was just as important as the food and coffee on offer, with staff encouraged to take pride in both their work and the environment they help create.<\/p>\n
“I want this place to have a reputation as the best coffee, the best food with quality service and an atmosphere to boot,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It can’t just be another cafe, it can’t just be another bakery, it’s not acceptable, it’s not enough.<\/p>\n
“You have to have staff that are happy, you’ve got to have product that they’re proud of and customers will see that.”<\/p>\n
The bakery will also embrace the dine-in experience, encouraging customers to sit, stay and enjoy the space.<\/p>\n
For Edgar, one of the most rewarding aspects of cafe ownership is seeing people connect within the space.<\/p>\n
“Now and again you look over to two people who might have met for the first time and you go, ‘We’re enabling that’,” he said.<\/p>\n
