WINCHELSEA’S Main Street has again been transformed for the festive season, with dozens of handcrafted timber Christmas trees bringing joy to the town in the lead-up to Christmas.<\/p>\n
The display features 50 wooden “twinkle trees” made by volunteers at the Winchelsea Men’s Shed.<\/p>\n
It is a tradition that has become a familiar part of the town’s Christmas celebrations, adding a distinctly home-grown feel to the town centre.<\/p>\n
Funded with support from Community Bank Winchelsea and District, the trees were distributed to local families to decorate before being installed along Main Street in late November by volunteer Charlie Earl and a small crew.<\/p>\n
Growing Winchelsea president, John Tebbutt, said the project reflected the strong community spirit in Winchelsea.<\/p>\n
“This project brings together our community in such a meaningful way. It’s about creativity, family fun, and making our town look and feel festive,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We are grateful to Community Bank Winchelsea and District for making this possible, and to the Men’s Shed volunteers for their hard work in crafting the trees.”<\/p>\n
Community Bank Winchelsea and District community engagement advisor, Kelly Turner, said the project reflected the role of community banking in supporting local initiatives.<\/p>\n
“Supporting projects like twinkle trees on Main is exactly what community banking is about \u2013 investing in local initiatives that bring people together,’ she said.<\/p>\n
The twinkle trees form part of a broader festive program in Winchelsea this Christmas, which also includes the Lions Club Christmas lights competition and an Elf on the Shelf trail run by local businesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
