{"id":176698,"date":"2025-12-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=176698"},"modified":"2025-12-16T21:19:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T10:19:50","slug":"riv-on-the-record-the-santa-postie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/riv-on-the-record-the-santa-postie\/","title":{"rendered":"Riv on the Record &#8211; The Santa Postie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week I had the great pleasure of being joined by the one and only Surf Coast Santa postie Cameron McFarlane.<\/p>\n<p>Spin it!<\/p>\n<p>Tell us how you got into being one of Santa&#8217;s helpers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/IMG_7890_28077-1-683_14996.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I used to be a postman and my postie round in Torquay included the kindergarten and primary school.<\/p>\n<p>When I started decorating the bike for each Christmas it just evolved from that.<\/p>\n<p>I started doing it in Torquay about 10 years ago and I&#8217;ve been visiting Anglesea for about five.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s the most rewarding aspect of what you do?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-114029\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/Your-paragraph-text-_15014_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The most rewarding part of it is the excitement of the kids when I return with a reply from Santa in the North Pole.<\/p>\n<p>When I pick up their letters they are a little skeptical, but when the reply arrives the magic of Christmas comes alive.<\/p>\n<p>How are things gearing up for 2025?<\/p>\n<p>This year has been very busy, Santa&#8217;s postie has been busy double checking everyone&#8217;s addresses and making sure that there is a safe landing area for the reindeer, and of course the sleigh.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s good about where we live?<\/p>\n<p>The Surf Coast has its relaxed vibe.
