HUNDREDS of swimmers are set to celebrate the festive season in the water for the 30th edition of Rock2Ramp, one of Anglesea’s most iconic summer events.<\/p>\n

The December 28 swim will unfold in the sheltered bay of Point Roadknight and welcome competitors of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n

This year’s program feature four event categories: the Kid’s Dash (200m and 300m), the open-age 600m, the open-age 2.5km marathon swim, and the traditional 1.2km event, contested in 10-year age groups.<\/p>\n

Funds raised will support Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club and its lifesaving operations.<\/p>\n

Anglesea resident Hetty Ramp will be competing in her 10th Rock2Ramp and is preparing for the demanding 2.5km course.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“It’s always a very interesting swim as it goes through different tidal pulls and waves. Each leg is different,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Now that I’m settling into my mid 60s, I’m much better off doing long distances slowly than pushing myself in the 1.2km.<\/p>\n

“We live down this way and just love the event. Green and white are my favourite colours and that’s Anglesea through and through.”<\/p>\n

Father-son duo, Simon and Isaac Jones, will also join the field in 2025.<\/p>\n

“We’ve been doing plenty of swim lessons and getting better there, and we are trying to get in the water as much as we can with it warming up,” Simon said.<\/p>\n

“I’ve done a handful of the events over the years and I’m in the water down at Anglesea as many mornings as I can.<\/p>\n

“We love everything about the event. Point Roadknight is one of the great places to swim and we can’t wait to kick off the season.”<\/p>\n

Siblings Kate and Morgan Taylor, long-time members of the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club, said they look forward to the energy the event brings to the community.<\/p>\n

“We’ve both done two of the proper ones, being the 1.2km over the past few years,” Morgan said.<\/p>\n

“We basically live at the club over summer and can be found in the water always.<\/p>\n

“This event gets lots of people into the town and the surf club really thrives from it.”<\/p>\n
