They remain the team to beat, but their path to back-to-back premierships is shaping up as a tough one.<\/p>\n
East Belmont have emerged as another contender, with their win over North Geelong an early highlight of the season.<\/p>\n
The Lions bowled the Magpies out for just 150 runs, before cruising to a win after declaring at 5\/250.<\/p>\n
A week earlier, they posted a season-high 303, underpinned by solid individual contributions across the order.<\/p>\n
St Peters have also impressed early, while Grovedale have bounced back after starting the season with a three-game losing streak, showing glimpses of finals-worthy cricket.<\/p>\n
Last season’s grand finalists have disappointed so far, dropping their first five games after allowing their opponent to make large totals with the bat.<\/p>\n
Newcomers Lara, competing in GCA1 this season, have also spent much of the opening eight rounds near the bottom of the ladder.<\/p>\n
