THE Geelong and Bellarine region will once again host the TAC People’s Ride this summer as part of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race \u2013 a celebration of cycling, community and road safety.<\/p>\n
The event brings thousands of riders together to enjoy the region’s stunning coastal roads, while reminding everyone that safety is a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n
The Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road are among Victoria’s most scenic routes, attracting holidaymakers, locals and cyclists alike.<\/p>\n
With more people on the move during summer, mutual care and respect between motorists and cyclists is critical. Every road user has the same goal: to arrive safely.<\/p>\n
The TAC’s message is simple: Be Seen. Be Safe. Share the Road.<\/p>\n
For drivers, that means slowing down, giving cyclists at least 1m of space when passing and staying alert \u2013 especially on winding coastal roads. For riders, it means wearing bright clothing, using lights and following the road rules. These small actions make a big difference.<\/p>\n
TAC chief executive Tracey Slatter said the People’s Ride is about more than cycling.<\/p>\n
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together and remind everyone that respect and cooperation on the road saves lives. Starting the year with this message sets us up for a safer 2026,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Events like the TAC People’s Ride highlight what’s possible when communities work together. They’re not just about sport; they’re about fostering respect and understanding between all road users.<\/p>\n
