CALLING all Lego architects, code-crackers and aspiring astronauts!<\/p>\n

Are you looking for some school holiday fun? Then head down to Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library this month!<\/p>\n

As former chair of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation, I deeply value the contribution libraries make to our community.<\/p>\n

If you’ve read some of my previous columns, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Armstrong Creek Library. So I’m thrilled to share just how jam-packed the library’s program is this month.<\/p>\n

No matter your age or your ability, there’s something on at the library for you.<\/p>\n

You can try your hand at textiles, or just drop in for a yarn at the Sit and Sew or the Purl Jam Knitting and Crochet Circle.<\/p>\n

Sculpt a mini figurine in the Claytopia workshop or build a wonder of the ancient world in the Lego architects session.<\/p>\n

Uncover a secret message in Codes and Cyphers, capture the night sky and the wonder of the galaxy in pastel and paint, or create your very own Curious Creatures while learning about the world’s most unusual animals \u2013 both real and imagined.<\/p>\n

Your little ones can even learn How to be an Astronaut in an hour for preschoolers featuring songs, stories, fun facts and videos of real astronauts \u2013 plus they can make an awesome rocket ship to fly at home.<\/p>\n

The ever-popular Baby Time, Toddler Time and Family Movie Time continue throughout the school holidays, while older kids can learn life skills and meal prep, and enjoy free food in three workshops as part of the Food 4 Future program.<\/p>\n

And that’s not to mention all the fantastic facilities you and your family can use during the library’s opening hours.<\/p>\n

The media room has everything you need to make the next big podcast or vodcast, including a green screen, mics, lighting, an audio production unit and webcam.<\/p>\n

If you’re more the hands-on type, you can have a go at the laser cutter, heat press, thermoformer, 3D printer and many other unique devices in the Djilaga Makers Room.<\/p>\n

Both these rooms require an induction to use their equipment, so be sure to look up dates for induction sessions.<\/p>\n

Armstrong Creek Library is also the start and end point of a very special journey happening next week.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, January 14, Bellarine Catchment Network is inviting the public to embark on a fascinating Wildlife Walk through the beautiful Armstrong Creek woodlands and wetlands.<\/p>\n

This free guided tour explores the area’s rich biodiversity, from towering trees to tiny critters, and participants can use the library’s binoculars to spot the birds and wildlife that call this area home.<\/p>\n

You’ll learn simple ways you can help protect our wonderful environment and even receive an indigenous seedling for your own backyard.<\/p>\n

Spots are limited to 30 people, so be sure to book early.<\/p>\n

Libraries are places to get lost in the pages \u2013 and with 32,000 books and other resources, Armstrong Creek Library is certainly that.<\/p>\n

But it’s also so much more \u2013 a place where our growing community can come together to learn, connect and \u2013 most of all \u2013 have fun.<\/p>\n

So I encourage you all to check out what’s on and make the most of everything this beloved community facility has to offer.<\/p>\n
