Photo: SALLY DALE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Swimmers also took to the water in the 500m, 2.5km and 5km events held throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club sponsorships and fundraising manager, Steve Jewson, said the event was a strong success.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The day was great, the weather was perfect and conditions were ideal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/Photo3-1-2026-95718a_03409.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants of all ages took to the water for the event. His sister Penny (pictured) had the honours.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was a little bit of swell, which, if you were good enough, you could crack a wave in from the last 50 or 80m.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were plenty of people down there, walking backwards and forwards watching.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jewson said the smooth running of the day was made possible by the tireless efforts of volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had close to 200 volunteers on the day, most of our own members. That was fantastic \u2013 it&#8217;s a great day that unites the club for a general cause.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/Photo3-1-2026-90458a_04037.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Conditions allowed swimmers to catch a wave into shore.
