THE South Coast Sharks are hopeful mateship, camaraderie and respect can pave the way to a three peat of state championships in 2026.<\/p>\n
The local masters football side have their eyes firmly set on the gold once again at the AFL Masters Victoria Country tournament come September.<\/p>\n
Heading into their third season in the Vic Country Masters Football League, the Sharks will field a team in both the Over 35 and Over 45 competitions.<\/p>\n
Led by new president Paul Snow and coaches Luke Vasello and Darren “Podgey” Morrish, the family friendly club has attracted a whopping\u00a0138 players.<\/p>\n
Mr Snow said much of the success thus far could be put down to the camaraderie and mateship which has spread rapidly between the pack.<\/p>\n
“Its really humbling experience to lead an amazing bunch of blokes like this,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We are a bunch of real community blokes who do a lot for each other. There’s a really strong bond, and we know there’s something super\u00a0special here.<\/p>\n
“What I’ve really noticed is that if anyone is ever struggling with their personal or professional life, or even their health, the bunch of guys\u00a0band together.<\/p>\n
“There’s so many amazing guys and personalities to lean on at all times and its just got us in such an amazing space heading into 2026.”<\/p>\n
Over 45’s coach Luke Vasello said winning a third premiership in September in Shepperton would be the icing on the cake of what has been an amazing start to the club’s existence.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got so many guys who just want to play, and to be honest, it’s become more than just a footy club like Snowy has eluded too.<\/p>\n
“We’ll face off against all the best from across the state and hopefully we can come out with the chocolates.”<\/p>\n
The Vic Country Masters Football League will kick off in April, with between 8-12 games to be played in a round robin format.<\/p>\n
The matchups will then determine seedings for the Victorian State Championships later in the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
