THE Victorian and federal governments have announced close to $100 million in additional recovery support for communities and businesses affected by bushfires across the state.<\/p>\n

The expanded package builds on an initial support package, announced last week, and targets priorities identified by fire-affected communities as recovery efforts ramp up.<\/p>\n

“These fires have devastated communities across Victoria \u2013 and we’re delivering more support to help people rebuild their lives and livelihoods,” Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said.<\/p>\n

“From clean-up and financial counselling to support for farmers and councils, this package delivers practical help where it’s needed most.”<\/p>\n

More than $15 million will fund recovery hubs in bushfire-affected areas, providing residents with access to government and community services and on-the-ground support through local councils.<\/p>\n

Up to $16 million will be available for households impacted by prolonged power outages, with eligible households able to receive $2,380 per week for up to three weeks.<\/p>\n

Support for primary producer includes an initial $40 million in grants of up to $75,000 to assist with clean-up and reinstating operations, alongside a further $10 million in concessional loans for those who have suffered asset damage or major income loss.<\/p>\n

Almost $12 million will also be delivered to bushfire-affected councils to help restore community assets and services, while more than $4 million will fund financial counselling to support households, businesses and primary producers.<\/p>\n

Federal Minister for Emergency Management Kirsty McBain said the state and federal governments were “working hand in hand” to make sure impacted communities have “the resources they need to recover”.<\/p>\n

“This has been a tough time for many communities across Victoria,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We’ll continue to deliver practical assistance on the ground so people can focus on rebuilding and\u00a0moving forward.”<\/p>\n

Emergency relief payments remain available for eligible Victorians who lost homes or were required to evacuate.<\/p>\n

Information is available at Emergency Relief Centres, by calling VicEmergency on 1800 226 226, or the Emergency Recovery Hotline on 1800 560 760.<\/p>\n
