TORQUAY Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) proudly hosted its annual Pink Patrol over the weekend, bringing together a full patrol of female lifesavers and the male champions who support them.<\/p>\n

The event highlighted the contribution of women and girls to lifesaving and celebrated the leadership, capability and community spirit of Torquay’s female members.<\/p>\n

Pink Patrol is an initiative that acknowledges the vital role women have played and continue to play in surf lifesaving.<\/p>\n

The powerful visual of women leading a full patrol on the beach serves as inspiration for younger members and reinforces that lifesaving is a place where girls and women can thrive, lead and shape the future of beach safety.<\/p>\n

This year’s event featured a relaxed afternoon tea at the clubhouse and a community raffle, bringing members, families and supporters together in a warm and inclusive celebration.<\/p>\n

Funds raised will support programs that encourage participation, leadership and skill development for women and girls in lifesaving.<\/p>\n

“Pink Patrol is one of those moments where you can really see what community looks like,” Torquay SLSC marketing director, Claire Borwick, said.<\/p>\n

“Our female members bring incredible skill, leadership and heart to the beach, and having our male champions stand proudly beside them sends a powerful message about inclusion and respect. It’s a reminder that when we lift each other up, our whole club becomes stronger.”<\/p>\n

Torquay SLSC president, Matt Carmichael, said the event is a significant day for the club because it highlights the depth of talent and leadership it has across its female membership.<\/p>\n

“Watching our women and girls lead on the beach is a reminder of how far lifesaving has come and how bright the future is,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The support from our members and the wider community shows that Torquay SLSC is committed to building a culture where every lifesaver has the opportunity to grow, contribute and lead.”<\/p>\n

Pink Patrol captain Em Tass said Pink Patrol offers a great opportunity to celebrate all the women in lifesaving.<\/p>\n

“It is a meaningful way to recognise the women who worked so hard for equal rights in lifesaving where women weren’t even able to patrol until the 1980s,” she said.<\/p>\n

“This patrol is a thank you to those who paved the way, and to all the women and girls today who continue to grow, empower one another and show that we are just as capable as anyone else.”<\/p>\n

Pink Patrol continues to grow each year, reflecting Torquay SLSC’s commitment to representation, empowerment and the development of future leaders.<\/p>\n
