GEELONG’S Premier Men’s Firsts have made a strong start to their final match of the season against Greenvale, impressing with both bat and ball on day one.<\/p>\n
In pristine cricket conditions, the Cats were sent in to bat first at home and finished all out for 302 \u2013 their second highest score of the season.<\/p>\n
While the Kangaroos had the advantage early, Geelong were able to steady through their middle order and were led by an unbeaten ton from Eamonn Vines, his second of the season.<\/p>\n
Vines finished at 101 not out from 148 balls and added 12 fours in the impressive knock.<\/p>\n
Greenvale then went out to bat as the daylight remained, with the Cats putting on early pressure to see their opponent finish the day at 2\/10 from four overs.<\/p>\n
Nathan Harper took both wickets as his side will look to continue their impressive start on day two this Saturday.<\/p>\n
While a finals berth is unachievable, Geelong can finish their season on a positive note with a win, which would make it their seventh of the season.<\/p>\n
The Seconds also made a commanding start in their clash, finishing day one on 9\/311 thanks to 105 from Fletcher Cozens.<\/p>\n
An evenly spread batting scoresheet has seen Geelong’s Thirds also start strong against the Kangaroos, sitting at 9\/281 after the first day.<\/p>\n
Regardless of the outcome this weekend, both sides are set to feature in the finals.<\/p>\n
