A disappointing second half of the season has seen Geelong’s Premier Men miss out on playing finals for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n
It was a tale of two halves for the Cats, who looked set for a postseason berth in early December. However, they were ultimately unable to capitalise on favourable matchups across their fixture on this side of 2026 to finish the season 13th with a 6-10 record.<\/p>\n
As their 2025\/26 campaign began in October, Geelong opened their seasons with two wins thanks to impressive performances with bat and ball.<\/p>\n
Their form plateaued as they entered the one day and T20 stage of the season, but they sat with a positive 4-3 record after Round 8.<\/p>\n
From here, the Cats managed just two wins from their final nine matches, despite many of their clashes coming against lower-ranked sides.<\/p>\n
Lapses across multiple innings in the season’s second half led to some tight losses, however there were some performances worth celebrating, such as the heroics of playing coach Eamonn Vines on various occasions.<\/p>\n
Vines also featured in a club record-breaking seventh wicket partnership in Round 2 with Arjun Sehrawat, with the two combining for a whopping 186.<\/p>\n
Young gun Liam Blackford further developed across the season and looks destined to represent Victoria in the future. Blackford finished the season with the most runs for his side, with 633.<\/p>\n
Vice-captain Josh Garner took the most wickets across the season, with 26.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, captain Joshua Larkin showcased his all-round skills, finishing third in runs scored (422) and third in wickets taken (14).<\/p>\n
