COMMUNITY event organisers will have easier access to grant applications following a process review.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast Shire has opened its next round of community event grant applications, with organisers to expect a more user-friendly experience.<\/p>\n
The grants have now been split into two categories \u2013 major and special events, and community events \u2013 making it easier for community grant applicants to progress through the process.<\/p>\n
Cr Phoebe Crockett encouraged event organisers to consider how the grant program could benefit them.<\/p>\n
Events are an essential part of the region’s economy and bringing large-scale events to the area outside of high summer is critical.<\/p>\n
“The Surf Coast is one of Australia’s top events destinations,” Cr Crockett said.<\/p>\n
“Each year we host more than 200 events that deliver incredible benefits, including bringing people together and showcasing our stunning natural environment.<\/p>\n
“All events play a valuable role in supporting our local communities, however the grants focus on\u00a0events held outside of that busy summer period and the Easter\u00a0long weekend.<\/p>\n
“They attract visitors to the Surf Coast and generate overnight stays in a traditionally quieter period, aligning with our goal that tourism supports local communities and delivers more consistent economic and social benefits year-round.”<\/p>\n
The shire is accepting major and special event grant applications, including multi-year grants for eligible events.<\/p>\n
Major and special events can receive funding of up to $10,000, while community events may be eligible for up to $3,000 in\u00a0grant funds.<\/p>\n
