He scored a narrow win over Sydney’s Jarvis Earle in the quarter finals and followed it with a win over Queenslander Marlon Harrison in a wave-starved semi-final.<\/p>\n
Wylie went into the event final with plenty of confidence, having competed at Philip Island since he was a child.<\/p>\n
The Sunshine Coast’s Alister Reginato got the ball rolling early, scoring two 5-point rides to put Wylie in a soft combination.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Wylie stayed patient and eventually earned the highest number of the heat – a 7-point ride for some strong backhand surfing.<\/p>\n
Having only posted a 2-point ride beforehand, Wylie was left needing 3.75 points to take the lead, but was unable to find the wave in the remaining time.<\/p>\n
Wylie’s sparring partner Xavier Huxtable’s quarter-final result was enough for him to lock in a Challenger Series spot.<\/p>\n
The 2026 season will be his second year on the world tour, inching him closer to his dream of making the elite<\/p>\n
Championship Tour.<\/p>\n
