Photo: Michael Chambers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following years of falling narrowly short of landing in first place, Torquay put the event out of doubt with some remarkable surfing.<\/p>\n<p>Wylie said he was still in shock at the club&#8217;s &#8220;iconic&#8221; achievement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t really describe how amazing it is to lead this club and see us have the success we are having,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We won something no club has ever won before, and now we are the world champions!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s one of the best things I&#8217;ve ever witnessed, and we will remember it forever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Torquay Boardriders Easter Luncheon is the club&#8217;s biggest annual fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>Special guests on the day included Geelong Cats gun Bailey Smith, Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony and Championship Tour surfer Connor O&#8217;Leary.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 406px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Boardriders26_22MCNe_55680.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"406\" height=\"609\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Event MC Neil Ridgway with Olympic gold medalist Jakara Anthony.
