A TRACK that will one day be part of the proposed Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail is receiving upgrades.<\/p>\n

The 4.7km section between Wye River and Kennett River is a popular part of the coastal walk.<\/p>\n

Last week, the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) announced it was carrying out works on this section including track stabilisation, pruning and laying of new gravel, with completion expected by late June.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, new signs were also installed to make wayfinding easier for a safer experience.<\/p>\n

The Wye River-Kennett River section will eventually become part of day five of the proposed Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail, which continues to progress through detailed design and approvals.<\/p>\n

“This is a popular walk that connects coastal communities, so we’re upgrading it to ensure it is safe and up to standard to eventually become part of the exciting new Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail,” a GORCAPA spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Crews will be on the ground until late June, so please follow all temporary closures, signage and advice if you are in the area and come across teams working.”<\/p>\n

The Great Ocean Road Coastal Trail will be a nationally significant multi-day walking experience that will offer a variety of options to explore the Otway coast, connecting with the Surf Coast Walk in the east at Fairhaven traversing across Gadubanud Country to Kennett River in the west.<\/p>\n

Traversing Gadubanud Country along the Otway coast, the 76km trail will boast breathtaking views from suspension bridges and lookouts, as well as a new camp site, boardwalks, river crossings, and day visitor areas.<\/p>\n

It will provide a diverse range of walking options and experiences from short loops and day walks to journeys over more than one day.<\/p>\n
