{"id":18483,"date":"2018-10-18T05:56:28","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T18:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=18483"},"modified":"2018-10-18T20:18:12","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T09:18:12","slug":"new-president-for-reiv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/real-estate\/new-president-for-reiv\/","title":{"rendered":"New president for REIV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) is pleased to announce that the board has elected Robyn Waters as president for 2018-19: the third female REIV president since 1936.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A formidable force in the Victorian real estate industry, Ms Waters was the first Australian woman to be appointed World President of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) in May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>She served on the REIV board as senior vice president in 2017-18 and director from 2001 to 2006 as well as being a ministerial appointment to the Estate Agents Council from 2015 to 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Waters is a licensed estate agent who operates as a sole trader providing real estate services to a select portfolio of clients. She is the Real Estate Institute of Australia\u2019s (REIA) Trustee to the International Ethical Standards Coalition and a fellow of the REIA and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).<\/p>\n<p>Ms Waters was born and raised in a real estate family in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and has witnessed the industry\u2019s evolution since the early 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Waters\u2019 role with the FIABCI, an NGO member of the Economic and Social Committee of the United Nations, has taken her to 38 countries. Some of the FIABCI\u2019s current work is in the areas of protection of property rights, sustainability and affordability.<\/p>\n<p>Through this work, Ms Waters has learned that the real estate industry is intrinsically linked to the livability and prosperity of our community which is particularly relevant in Regional Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Leah Calnan on her election as senior vice president and Adam Docking to vice president.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Simpson, the 2017-18 REIV president, helped navigate the REIV through the largest review of property legislation in the state\u2019s history.
