WORK has started on replacing the ageing boundary fence at Bob Pettitt Reserve, with a new white picket design to reshape the look of the oval.<\/p>\n
Crews began installation on Monday, following a request from the Jan Juc Cricket Club for a fence that better reflects a traditional cricket ground.<\/p>\n
The new perimeter will be built from aluminium with a graffiti-resistant PVC coating, designed to mimic painted timber.<\/p>\n
Cr Liz Pattison said the style was becoming more common at grounds across the country.<\/p>\n
“We’re happy to have worked with Jan Juc Cricket Club to select a new fence for their home ground,” Cr Pattison said. “The white pickets will look great and be less costly to maintain than the old wire fence.”<\/p>\n
The upgrade will also improve access around the oval, with an additional entry point to be installed behind the northern football goals and an existing access point to be relocated behind the southern goals to make ball retrieval easier during matches.<\/p>\n
Works are expected to take about three weeks, with the fence to be installed in stages. The oval will remain open throughout, including for football training and games.<\/p>\n
The project is being delivered as part of council’s 2025\u201326 asset renewal program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
