Photo: Peter Marshall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After a senior football clash with Werribee Centrals, more than 40 competitors lined up for the speed shearing, jumping onto a custom-built shearing platform mounted on the back of a truck.<\/p>\n<p>The competition ran across open and intermediate divisions, alongside a crowd-favourite relay that saw teams of three eat a pie, drink a beer and shear a sheep against the clock.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/B07K5286-MichaelSore_48473.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Organiser Michael Sorensen with Winchelsea FNC president Angus Leigh. Photo: Peter Marshall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event served as a fundraiser for the Winchelsea FNC.<\/p>\n<p>Club president Angus Leigh said the result exceeded expectations, with more than $30,000 raised.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are absolutely stoked with it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The most pleasing aspect for me was seeing so many families and children running around, playing and enjoying themselves.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/B07K5417-SpeedSheari_36883.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The competition ran across open and intermediate divisions, alongside a crowd-favourite relay that saw teams of three eat a pie, drink a beer and shear a sheep against the clock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past decade we haven&#8217;t had juniors at the club, so to see that revival of the younger audience was amazing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To get 500 people there with the inclement weather in mind was a great result.
