A CHARITY golf day will be held Friday February 19 at RACV Torquay to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Victoria.<\/p>\n
The day will support Cycle for Cystic Fibrosis, a fundraiser starting on March 6, which will see 22 riders pedal in excess of 1,000 kilometres from Adelaide to Melbourne, riding into Torquay on March 10.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police members are gearing up to support colleague Greg Green whose daughter Isla suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF), an inherited genetic condition, primarily affecting the lungs, pancreas and digestive system.<\/p>\n
Isla has the most commonly inherited of the 1,600 mutations of the CF gene, Delta F508. This particular gene is the most serious and complicated of the mutations and as a result, the CF affects her lungs, digestive system, sweat glands and liver.<\/p>\n

She loves the trampoline and yoga, she attends kindergarten, swimming and loves play dates with friends.<\/p>\n
Isla is a wonderfully happy, positive, empathetic, loving, gentle and kind four-year-old.<\/p>\n
The research into new treatments for CF is improving the quality of life for those with the condition exponentially.<\/p>\n
In Australia, a baby is born with CF every four days. There is currently no cure for the lifeshortening condition.<\/p>\n
The charity golf day tee off at RACV Resort Torquay Golf Club, 1 Great Ocean Road is 1pm, with barbecue lunch at noon. Dress is collared shirt and no golf spikes please.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
