LOW-RISE jeans, combat boots and cowrie shell jewellery will make a comeback \u2013 if only for one night \u2013 as the Surf Coast leans into full 90s nostalgia at the Torquay Bowls Club.<\/p>\n

Surf Coast Arts will bring the decade to life on 2 May with its ‘Reliving the 90s’ night, with bands, dress-ups and a packed dance floor on the cards.<\/p>\n

Now in its fourth year, organiser Kristy Coote said the event had grown steadily since its inception. Previous events have celebrated the 1960s, 70s and 80s.<\/p>\n

“It has just become a fantastic community night,” Coote said.<\/p>\n

“Everyone gets dressed up \u2013 there’s a best dressed prize \u2013 and a lot of people will go in before the event and have a yummy meal at the Torquay Bowls Club.”<\/p>\n

Coote will once again take to the stage with her band, KC and the Surfcoast Band, alongside a lineup of local acts that includes The S.A.D.S and The Chads.<\/p>\n

Audiences can expect a mix of iconic hits from artists such as Alanis Morisesette, Pearl Jam, No Doubt and Killing Heidi.<\/p>\n

The night is as much about the atmosphere as it is the music, with attendees encouraged to fully embrace the decade.<\/p>\n

“You can do anything from the Spice Girls to Nirvana grunge,” Coote said. “When I think of the 90s, I think of Doc Martens, fishnet stockings and crazy hair \u2013 that’s what I’ll be wearing!”<\/p>\n

Beyond the fun, the event also supports the local arts community. Proceeds from ticket sales go towards paying performers, sound and production costs, with any remaining funds supporting Surf Coast Arts initiatives.<\/p>\n

The event will run from 8pm to 11pm, with tickets priced at $20, or $15 for Surf Coast Arts members.<\/p>\n
