Torquay Boardriders Club has a long history of up and coming stars creating chaos among the other state\u2019s brightest.<\/p>\n
Current Open surfers like Todd Rosewall, Harry Mann and Cody Robinson all did their fair share of grom events abroad.<\/p>\n
With them leading by example, it is no wonder that TBC\u2019s groms of today know how to take down an interstate event.<\/p>\n
Two weekends ago we had two of the bigger national junior surfing events take place.<\/p>\n
The WA leg of the Rip Curl Gromsearch series ran at Trigg Beach and on the shores of Sydney\u2019s Northern Beaches, Barton Lynch ran his annual \u201cBL Blast Off\u201d<\/p>\n
It was TBC\u2019s Ethan Huxtable and Jazz Wylie however that came away with wins on opposite sides of the country to each other.<\/p>\n
Huxtable, on his way home from a well-timed trip to Lakey Peak shook off the travel through some sweaty Indonesian airports to take out the U14 division of the WA event.<\/p>\n
Wylie took on the east coast Australian super talents and came away with a win in U14 girls division in the BL Blast off.<\/p>\n
These victories couldn\u2019t come at a better time for these two as they head into a big period of competition.<\/p>\n
The Australian Junior titles is just around the corner and the Australian Boardriders Battle qualifier for Victoria is only weeks away.<\/p>\n
Training for the ABB has started and with the young talented surfers keeping the Open members of the team honest, selection this year is going to again come down to the wire.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year the ABB Victorian Qualifier is our main target on the team\u2019s front,\u201d Cahill Bell-Warren said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf our Open surfers can avoid injury between now and the event, we look to have a full squad to select from this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the results of our Juniors of late, there will be hot pressure on our selection committee for the Junior team member as well.<\/p>\n
