The pier has reopened at Point Grey in Lorne but visitors are being asked to be mindful of the ongoing construction works across the precinct.<\/p>\n

Access to the pier and a section of the Doug Stirling Track closed in mid-February to allow strengthening of the sea wall along the foreshore as part of the $12.59 million redevelopment.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) reopened the pier yesterday but access is only via the Doug Stirling Track.<\/p>\n

Recent wet weather has left the track muddy in sections, and gravel works are planned to improve conditions.<\/p>\n

Portable toilets have also been installed near the pier.<\/p>\n

“The rest of Point Grey remains an active work site and is fenced off for safety, so we ask any visitors to please follow the signs [and] stay within the open areas to help keep everyone safe,” a GORCAPA spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

GORCAPA says other works in the redevelopment are continuing on schedule, with the slab for the new Angling Club poured and demolition of the old Co-Op complete<\/a>, including salvaging materials for re-use in the new building.<\/p>\n

The next steps include the slab pour for the new Co-Op<\/a>, framing for the Angling Club, and the start of broader upgrades to spaces such as the car park and landscaping.<\/p>\n

GORCAPA would not confirm a completion date for either of the two new buildings but has previously stated major works at the precinct would finish in mid-2026.<\/p>\n
