{"id":18923,"date":"2018-10-25T03:44:46","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T16:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=18923"},"modified":"2018-10-25T22:25:28","modified_gmt":"2018-10-25T11:25:28","slug":"business-excellence-landmark-transformation-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/business-excellence-landmark-transformation-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"BUSINESS EXCELLENCE: Landmark transformation underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A new era is dawning for the arts in Geelong and leading the charge is the city\u2019s performing arts centre where a major redevelopment is currently underway.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Geelong Performing Arts Centre\u2019s $38.5 million Ryrie Street Redevelopment, funded by the Victorian Government with some philanthropic support, will create a stunning new landmark in the heart of the cultural precinct.<\/p>\n<p>Redevelopment will transform the streetscape, while vastly improving accessibility and the experience for artists and audiences.<\/p>\n<p>The transformation of the centre is well underway and Geelong theatre-goers will soon be greeted by a striking new entrance, along with improved accessibility to the theatres, new rehearsal and dance studios, as well as taking the visitor experience \u2018next-level\u2019 with beautiful new foyer and bar areas.<\/p>\n<p>A major public art commission will complete the design with an iconic artwork to be created for the centre\u2019s eastern exterior wall.<\/p>\n<p>The redevelopment will meet the needs of the city\u2019s growing creative industry, with a space dedicated for use by creative practitioners and organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by international Melbourne-based architecture studio, HASSELL, and built by award-winning Kane Constructions, the project will redefine the centre.<\/p>\n<p>The design blends the old and the new, introducing a modern translucent facade, and revealing the facade of the old Steeple Church.<\/p>\n<p>Due for completion in mid-2019, the Ryrie Street Redevelopment will enable a greater number of people to access and enjoy the centre, and make Geelong even more attractive to new business, investors, tourists and residents.<\/p>\n<p>The centre has remained a hive of activity throughout the redevelopment, with performances and events continuing in the theatres and foyer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new era is dawning for the arts in Geelong and leading the charge is the city\u2019s performing arts centre where a major redevelopment is currently underway.
