AIREYS Inlet’s first public electric vehicle charger is now operational, completing Surf Coast Shire’s network of public EV charging stations across the region.<\/p>\n
The new charger, located at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall car park on the Great Ocean Road, is the final installation delivered through the Victorian government’s Destination Charging Across Victoria program.<\/p>\n
The project also funded new charging stations in Anglesea and Winchelsea, while existing infrastructure in Lorne was upgraded.<\/p>\n
Surf Coast Shire councillor Mike Bodsworth said the completion of the network was an important milestone for the region.<\/p>\n
“It’s fantastic to see the first public EV charger in Aireys Inlet now operating and to complete the roll out of public charging stations across the region,” Cr Bodsworth said.<\/p>\n
“With more people choosing electric vehicles, these chargers support both our local community and the many visitors who travel through Surf Coast each year.”<\/p>\n
The four sites feature dual-port fast chargers connected to the Chargefox network, allowing two vehicles to charge at the same time.<\/p>\n
Cr Bodsworth said the project supported the council’s goal of helping communities reduce emissions and prepare for increasing electric vehicle ownership.<\/p>\n
“As electric vehicle ownership continues to grow, it is important that our regional communities have the infrastructure people need,” he said.<\/p>\n
“These charging stations make it easier for residents and visitors to choose lower emission transport options.”<\/p>\n
The charging stations in Aireys Inlet, Anglesea, Winchelsea and Lorne are all now available for public use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
