GEELONG’S roster for the 2026\u201327 WNBL season continues to take shape, with promising young guard Indiah Bowyer becoming the club’s latest signing.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Cairns product currently plays for Geelong United in the NBL1 and was part of the Southside Melbourne Flyers squad that reached the WNBL semi-finals last season.<\/p>\n

Despite her age, Bowyer has already spent time with four WNBL clubs and will add further depth and versatility to the Venom’s backcourt as the club enters a new era under head coach Cheryl Chambers.<\/p>\n

Bowyer said her decision to remain in Geelong for the WNBL season was driven by both the direction of the program and the region’s strong basketball community.<\/p>\n

“The community around this club is something special,” she said. “Seeing that support up close this offseason really made me feel welcome and settled, and it made this decision a no-brainer.<\/p>\n

“It’s an amazing opportunity to grow alongside the girls and Cheryl over the seasons, and I’m excited about what we can build together.”<\/p>\n

Bowyer said her most recent season with the Southside Melbourne Flyers, which culminated in a semi-final appearance, provided valuable insight into the standards required to compete at WNBL level.<\/p>\n

“That experience taught me exactly what areas of my game I need to develop to compete at this level,” she said.<\/p>\n

“That high standard really rubs off on you and I’m coming here wanting to be a sponge: to develop, to be reliable and consistent, and to be whatever the team and [Chambers] need me to be.”<\/p>\n

Bowyer’s signing is the latest move in a busy offseason for the Venom.<\/p>\n

Established stars Bec Cole and Maddy Rocci will join the likes of Alex Sharp, Lilly Rotunno, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard and Dakota Crichton, giving Geelong a roster that blends experience with emerging talent.<\/p>\n

Jaz Shelley and Taylor Mole will wear new WNBL colours next season, while Shyla Heal activated her European out-clause and will not feature in Geelong’s 2026\u201327 campaign.<\/p>\n
