A LIFELONG dream of locating the most beautiful waves in the most remote parts of the world proved to be the driving force in Liz Clark\u2019s decision to set sail on a 40-foot sailboat named Swell, a hand-medown from her former professor.<\/p>\n
The then 22-year-old took off from the Santa Barbara harbour in 2005 and spent the better part of 12 years mostly alone on the water.<\/p>\n
The mentally and physically challenging expedition, despite its obvious setbacks, led the southern Californian activist to where she is today; an author.<\/p>\n
Having enjoyed journaling while out at sea, Clark has revealed all the highs and lows in her tell-all book \u2013 which shares the same name as her sailboat \u2013 Swell: A Sailing Surfer\u2019s Voyage of Awakening.<\/p>\n
Readers will learn of her journey through Mexico, Central America, the Galapagos, French Polynesia and afar, from repairing broken engines to contracting a rare fungal infection, Captain Clark spares no detail in her honest account of life on water for over a decade.<\/p>\n
In her upcoming book tour \u2013 in partnership with Patagonia \u2013 Clark will be celebrating her autobiography and how her sailboat transported her across 20,000 miles of sea.<\/p>\n
