FROM December 12, Anglesea\u2019s food organics collection pilot will start with residents encouraged to utilise their newest bin for food scraps (fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy, bread and bones).<\/p>\n
The organics bin alongside garden waste will be collected on a weekly basis while the landfill and recycling bin will be collected on an alternate fortnightly cycle.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast Shire is running a pilot of this service involving every household in the Anglesea township, at no extra cost to residents.<\/p>\n
People are advised not to start placing food waste in their organic bin before then with more information arriving to homes in the lead up to the launch date.<\/p>\n
Before the pilot starts, the Surf Coast Shire will be doing a couple of things to get each household set up; from mid November to early December they will be delivering a kitchen caddy, roll of compostable liners and new waste collection calendar to every house in Anglesea.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t want a caddy left on your doorstep during this timeframe give them a call and they\u2019ll provide an alternative.<\/p>\n
The kitchen caddies \u2013 used for collecting food scraps in your home \u2013 will stay with the property in the same way your kerbside bins do.<\/p>\n
When the new service starts in December, there will be a change to the frequency of your kerbside bin collections, bins will still be collected on Wednesdays, however, your organics bin (which will now include food scraps along with garden clippings) will be collected weekly.<\/p>\n
Your landfill (general waste) bin will be collected fortnightly, alternating with your recycling collection.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast Shire has held several information sessions in the lead up, with two more to come at the Anglesea IGA on Wednesday December 5, 3pm to 5.30pm and Wednesday 19 December, 3pm to 5.30pm.<\/p>\n
