GEELONG\u2019S iconic floating Christmas tree attracted an estimated 15,000 people at Friday November 9\u2019s tree lighting ceremony, a special event for the community.<\/p>\n

The 25-metre-high tree is now in its fifth year, lighting up nightly from 8.30pm \u2013 midnight until Monday January 7.<\/p>\n

Onlookers enjoyed free entertainment and an eyecatching fireworks display, with The Kazoos, The Itchy Feet band, the cast of Medimme\u2019s Aladdin, Geelong\u2019s Best Kid Busker winner Tim Meadows and Piano Bar\u2019s Andy Pobjoy performing on the evening.<\/p>\n

The Waterfront tree featured a new decorative element; coloured presents as part of the light show at the base of the tree.<\/p>\n

Keeping in tune with this year\u2019s theme, the journey of the Christmas star, Gheringhap Street\u2019s City Hall came alive at 9.30pm in a new light projection show designed by local artist Matt Bonner.<\/p>\n
