IN WHAT is an exciting step for the Australian healthcare sector and a new addition to the Surf Coast, Kieser has officially opened its centre in Torquay.<\/p>\n
Unlike most ordinary gyms, Kieser operates using physiotherapy,rehabilitation and strength training for its members.<\/p>\n
Richard Wallace, one of Kieser\u2019s physiotherapists, recognised a gap in the market in Torquay for physio, rehabilitation and therapeutic strength training to accommodate the town\u2019s growing ageing population.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Torquay\u2019s ageing population grows, so does the need for our clients to keep doing the activities they love, whether it be surfing, golfing or cycling\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kieser method is a fusion of physiotherapy and strength and conditioning. It is an evidence-based, bestpractice formula and is appropriate for all ages, which sets us apart from other gyms and physio clinics.<\/p>\n
\u201cTraining at Kieser is very different to a traditional gym because of our Swissengineered equipment, non-intimidating
\nenvironment and time-efficient programs that can be completed in 30 minutes, twice per week,\u201d Mr Wallace said.<\/p>\n
Kieser Australia \u2013 which was established in Melbourne in 2006 \u2013 has since expanded across 13 centres around Melbourne, Geelong and Sydney.<\/p>\n
Although the concept originated in Europe over 50 years ago, it is now revolutionising Australia\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n
Working alongside sports clubs including the Geelong Cats, Kieser has developed a program with GMHBA designed to delay
\nor prevent joint replacement surgery as well as improve post-surgical outcomes for clients with osteoarthritis.<\/p>\n
