DAMAGED Christmas lights in Anglesea have made way to three beautiful art installations, part of a 10-piece series commissioned by Business and Tourism Anglesea (BATA).<\/p>\n
Local artists Cinnamon and Rowan Stephens of Studio 66 were approached by BATA to design and create permanent art installations to replace thecurrent damaged seasonal decorations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am a local artist\/sculptor and was fortunate to be commissioned by BATA to complete this project by mid-2019. The project involves 10 large metalwork panels depicting local flora and fauna found around Anglesea,\u201d Mrs Stephens said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first three installed are Weedy Seadragon – Looking out to Sea, Kangaroo with Attitude and Crazy Kookaburra.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Stephens said the project had been supported by the Surf Coast Shire, Anglesea Community Banks, the Anglesea Lions as well as BATA.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe installation of solar bud lights around each of the artwork\u2019s outline, will double as a seasonal decoration when the lights are switched on from the start of December until the end of January,\u201d Mrs Stephens said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese lights will remain largely un-noticed during the rest of the year due to the height of the installation that utilises 10 existing flag poles in the shopping precinct car park.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have seven more to now create and install before July 2019. These will include sea life, native plants, local birds and more. If people are interested to add their name to this project, we are still looking for a couple more sponsors.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Stephens said they hope the unique installations engaged the viewer and promoted a sense of pride and connectedness to the local environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
