Roses are red, but a freshly cut cluster of daisies is just as romantic, according to Kylie Robertson of Robertson\u2019s Farmgate.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been a great shift from red to pink in rose varieties, and the Robertson\u2019s grow theirs on site, outdoors.<\/p>\n

Their garden is full of \u201cvoluptuous and heady old fashioned roses, full of perfume,\u201d<\/p>\n

co-owner Kylie said. Many commercial roses are grown in hot houses where stems are bred out for convenience, but in taking away the thorns the scent is lost.<\/p>\n

Farmgate\u2019s roses have big thorns, but they\u2019re stripped out thoroughly for the bouquets.<\/p>\n

\u201cValentine\u2019s day for us is a 24-hour love-fest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen it really evolve into a beautiful thing, not just for couples, but dad\u2019s buying for daughters and mothers too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendall and Josh Carracher of Flower Child Posies believe it\u2019s the thought that counts, specialising in little bunches of flowers at $29 a posy.<\/p>\n

The menu for this Valentine\u2019s Day is a posy of red and white roses or Australian native Strawberry Fields flowers.<\/p>\n

The tiny straw-like flower appears as though \u201ccute little strawberries are popping out\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kendall will be working this alongside her husband on Valentine\u2019s Day, and together they\u2019ll be sending messages of FLOWER FLAIR love all around.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why I have a flower shop, so I can surround myself with beautiful flowers every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flower Child\u2019s first order of flowers was from a woman buying for a man, it\u2019s a break from tradition for these guys, often they deliver from a girl to a girlfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey want to avoid a friend being sad, not receiving anything on the special day, this way it\u2019s a nice surprise\u201d.<\/p>\n

Great Ocean Road Flowers is ready with a heat-induced twist for the romantic day.<\/p>\n

Susie Indermaur says a great alternative is to \u201cput some tropical flowers with the roses, possible due to the warmer weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hydrangeas and bouvardias are also in season along with dahlias.<\/p>\n
