THE free bus service for the Portarlington Mussel Festival at the weekend was a great success, with many mums and dads saying thanks with their tired little ones after a big day.<\/p>\n
Stan Campbell is a Leading Firefighter, Operational Training with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and comes to Portarlington every summer.<\/p>\n
Each year Stan and his friends and family catch the free bus with the same volunteer bus driver, Marg Yucker.<\/p>\n
Stan said he had been to the mussel festival for the last six or seven years, and found the bus a fantastic idea.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe town is so crowded that it\u2019s difficult to find a parking spot and driving to the festival only adds to the traffic jams,\u201d Stan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTaking the bus takes all the stress out of getting there and it means that everyone can enjoy not just the mussels, but a few of the fantastic local wines and beers on sale every year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stan said he loved to support all the local wineries and food stalls and really appreciated all the work the volunteers put in.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year seemed to be the biggest so far, and we look forward to seeing the festival go from strength to strength in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Marg said all the local passengers loved the free bus.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach year I look forward to picking up Stan and his regular visitors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
